Everyone in my family (including my 4 year old) goes on YouTube quite often.
You can find pretty much everything that you are interested in there. I would say that YouTube serves both recreational and educational purposes, because beside music and other entertainment videos you can find tutorials and instructional videos.
Flickr was something new to me. The pictures are awesome. I probably won't get my own account there, but I will be using it to look for pictures that I like.
